Floating Potential Condition

The floating potential condition imposes a constraint on the electric potential :math:`\phi`, requiring that its value in a given region be constant:

   \left. \phi \right|_{\Omega} = \mathrm{const},

where :math:`\Omega` is the given region of space. This condition is used in situations where a certain region of space must have a constant electric potential :math:`\phi=\mathrm{const}`, but at the same time it is in contact with other regions in which :math:`\phi` is not known in advance, but is determined by solving an equation under given boundary conditions.
