Perfect Electric Conductor Boundary Condition
The perfect electric conductor (PEC) boundary condition is applied at boundaries with conducting materials, whose conductivity is assumed to be infinite. This is a good approximation at the boundaries with metals at high field frequencies. Under this boundary condition the tangential component of the electric field’s amplitude at the boundary is set to zero:
\[\tilde{\mathbf{E}} \times \mathbf{n} = 0,\]
where \(\hat{\mathbf{n}}\) is the unit vector normal to the boundary.
