mufem installed from PyPI is free to use for both academic and commercial work. Paid tiers unlock large-scale parallel computing on clusters, specialised physics models, and GPU support.
- Community — free to use. Allows users to run a broad set of physics models on a single machine. No product key or registration is required.
- Individual — paid tier for a single named user. Adds parallel computing on clusters and large machines, specialised physics models, and GPU support for selected models.
- Enterprise — multi-seat licences for teams and organisations. Includes all Individual capabilities, plus support, validation, and integration services; invoiced.
Revenue from paid tiers funds the continued development, validation, and support of mufem.

Can I use the Community tier for commercial work? Yes. The Community tier is free for both academic and commercial use. Producing results, designs, or analyses for a paying client, an employer, or a commercial product is permitted at no cost.
What do the paid tiers add? Parallel computing on clusters and large machines, specialised physics models, and GPU support for selected models. The Community tier allows to run a broad set of physics models on a single machine.
Do I own the results I produce with mufem? Yes. You retain full ownership of all meshes, simulations, and outputs you generate, under any tier.
